Collection: Simonsig wine estate
Under the Cape Best brand, we are the official importers for Italy of Simonsig Wine Estate.
The Simonsig winery was founded by Frans Malan, a true pioneer of the South African wine industry, and remains family-owned to this day, run by the second and third generations of the Malan family. The name “Simonsig” means “view of the Simonsberg,” referring to the nearby mountain that dominates the estate.
Simonsig, a wine estate of French Huguenot origins, has always been distinguished by the family's incomparable winemaking experience and tradition; the result has been excellent, highly awarded and often innovative wines over the years.
When people talk about Simonsig, they are also indirectly talking about the history of Méthode Cap Classique (MCC)-the South African classic method: in fact, it was Simonsig that was the first winery ever to produce it in South Africa in 1971. In addition to pioneering MCC production, Simonsig was also one of the first wineries in South Africa to produce a high-quality Pinotage.
Simonsig is committed to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. The winery uses viticulture techniques that promote biodiversity and reduce the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, seeking to preserve the health of the soil and the local ecosystem.
