Cape Best raises its glasses to the magic of the 2025 harvest in South Africa 🍷🌿
The 2025 harvest in South Africa is proving to be a true triumph of nature and the work of man! With vineyards immersed in a dream landscape and cellars in ferment, wine producers throughout the country are reaping the benefits of an exceptional season , characterized by ideal climatic conditions and a quality of wine from South Africa that promises to be extraordinary .
From the early stages of the harvest in South Africa, the excitement among winemakers was palpable. The growing conditions of the grapes, with moderate temperatures and well-distributed rainfall, favored a slow and perfect ripening . The result? An extraordinary balance between acidity, structure and aromatic complexity, which promises to translate into South African wines of rare elegance and depth.
The red grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz , are showing intense colors and well-developed tannins, while the white grapes, such as Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc , reveal a vibrant freshness and a unique aromatic concentration. The first fermentations already confirm flavor profiles of great character, which foreshadow a memorable vintage.
According to Dr Etienne Terblanche of Vinpro (representing approximately 2,600 South African wine grape producers, wineries and wineries), the 2025 season has highlighted the best of South African terroir . Optimal ripening conditions and careful vineyard management have produced extraordinary grapes, which will produce wines of exceptional quality, freshness and longevity.
The favorable climate and meticulous care of the vines played a crucial role in ensuring excellent yields and healthy, vigorous fruit. Although winter rains were initially scarce, the abundant rainfall in July rebalanced the water reserves, allowing the vines to face the production season with the right vigor . The result is an abundant harvest of extraordinary quality.

The first harvested varieties, such as Chardonnay and Pinotage , are already surprising winemakers with their purity and intensity . Chenin Blanc , the emblem of South Africa, stands out for its typical minerality and freshness , while the first samples of Shiraz, Merlot and Colombar indicate an exceptional vintage, with wines that promise to be complex and harmonious.
According to Gary Jordan, owner of Jordan Wine Estate , among the stars of 2025 stands out Assyrtiko, the Greek grape variety that is conquering South Africa with its freshness and its ability to withstand the most extreme climate conditions. But it will not be the only protagonist: Chenin Blanc, with Inspector Péringuey Chenin Blanc and Timepiece Chenin Blanc , is giving surprising results.
Cape Best is enthusiastically following the progress of this extraordinary harvest and is preparing to select the best labels of 2025 to bring the quality and excellence of South African wine to Italy.
Cheers to an unforgettable vintage! 🍷
