We have named this armchair ‘Tyger Chair’, because ‘Tyger’ is the name by which the cheetah was once called in South Africa; this ‘root’ still remains in the name of some localities, such as Tygerberg, a suburb near Cape Town from which the frame of the armchair comes.
The armchair, dating from the early 1900s, is made of Embuya wood (Ocotea porosa), a tree that can reach 30-40 m in height and 1.5-1.8 m in diameter.
The colour is typically medium-dark brown, sometimes with reddish or golden hues.
The Ardmore fabric used for seating depicts typically African floral and faunal subjects: the cheetah dominates the scene.
Ardmore was created in Kwazulu Natal (South Africa) by the artist Fée Halsted, well known throughout the world for the great expressive power of her creations.
The colours are designed with great creativity: the warm orange, inspired by fire and energy, goes well with the Embuya wood, while the electric blue of the floral elements lends a very modern note.
The chair was completely restored by a craftsman in Milan, who inserted the hand-stitched rat-tail in fabric, which further embellishes the chair.
The ‘Tyger Chair’ is a unique piece, presented exclusively by Cape Best.
An armchair that will not go unnoticed in an Italian living room!
Maximum measurements (w x l x h): 63 x 58 x 101 cm.
Seat measurements (w x h): cm 49 x 53.
Shipping: shipping is NOT included in the price and will be calculated at the time of purchase. Shipping cost will be charged to the buyer.
