Reclaimed Metal Frame with Artwork

South African artist Mark Hilltout recovers old corrugated sheets of metal in the townships, where they served as roofs or load-bearing structures for houses. The metal is brought to his studio where an initial cleaning process takes place and the frames are then assembled.

Each frame is a unique piece, handcrafted by the artist. For this reason they may be irregular and/or imprecise. These unique features represent the added value of the products.

Within this frame we find a work that depicts - one next to the other - several pieces of recovered metal that the artist has collected and worked on over the years.
