In the vineyard

The 2018 vintage was one of the driest in living memory, but despite the challenge posed by climatic conditions, the 43-year-old vineyards showed their worth and proved to be very resistant to drought, even more than expected. The wines produced far exceeded quality expectations and have proven to be one of the best vintages of this century.
The grapes used to make this Pinotage come from a block of 43-year-old vines, grown as saplings. The vines grow in granitic soils with a quantitatively limited yield. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness.

In the cellar

The best bunches are carefully selected: a first selection in the vineyard is followed by a second selection of the best grapes before a final selection in the cellar. Fermented in open French oak barrels with daily punching down. After malolactic fermentation in barrique, 50% of the wine is matured in French oak barrels, 50% new and 50% second use for 18 months.
